Only those students who are currently taking a full year of Algebra I need to take the math placement test. All those currently taking eighth-grade math or pre-algebra need not take this test; you will be automatically placed in Algebra I. Every student entering Cor Jesu has the potential of completing Calculus I and II no matter what math courses she had in grade school or where she begins in the math program at CJA.

This test will be given on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 3:00-4:15 PM at Cor Jesu Academy. Students taking the math placement test must sign up online (this is the single survey shown above) AND have their current Algebra I teacher complete the math placement form that was included in the registration night packet. A calculator is allowed but not required. You DO need to bring pencils with erasers.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST

Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 4:30 – 5:45 PM
If you have taken a full year of a foreign language, you can opt to take a qualifying exam in that language. A satisfactory grade is necessary to advance you to the next level of a language at CJA. Foreign language exams are in Spanish, French and Latin. The language exams will be given on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 4:30 – 5:45 PM.

Math Skills Packets

To promote the success of each freshman in her mathematics class at Cor Jesu, the algebra teachers have prepared a review of the basic arithmetic skills each student should have mastered in elementary school.  Please download the math packet below for the course which you are enrolled. Each math packet worksheet should be completed without the use of a calculator unless otherwise noted.  The Algebra I text begins with Chapter Zero.  This material may also be used as a reference and contains concepts that freshmen should also have mastered. Please read the examples on each worksheet carefully and follow the pattern when working the problems.  Show all work on separate loose leaf and attach it to the end of the packet.  The completed worksheets for the course which you are enrolled should be brought to the first day of math class in August 2017.
