Internship: 
 
Responsibilities

NISA Investment Advisors, LLC offers an internship program for college students. We tailor intern projects to match the interests of interns with our needs and provide interns experience in various aspects of investment management. Examples of intern projects include:
  
  • Assist in processing mandatory and voluntary corporate actions
  • Assist Trade Assistants with the trade confirmation process
  • Assist Account Administrators with communicating trade instructions to custodian banks
  • Research and analyze custodial agreements
  • Research and analyze pre-tax and after-tax portfolio returns
  • Model and analyze indices (i.e., S&P 500, Barclays Aggregate)
  • Model and analyze fixed income securities (ABS, CMO, bonds with embedded options)
  • Perform credit analysis on corporate issuers
  • Enhance proprietary models
  • Research and document historical return data to comply with legal requirements
 
 
Qualifications 
  • Winter 2019 or Spring 2020 undergraduates are preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a strong analytical and quantitative field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or Computer Science required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, both independently and within a team setting

Analyst, Portfolio Management (2019 Rotational Program)
Overview

Responsibilities
The NISA Portfolio Management Analyst Rotational Program is a three-year program that includes four rotations within NISA’s Portfolio Management department.  In Year One, all analysts work together to gain foundational knowledge and understanding of broad asset classes and financial instruments.  During this year, the focus is on learning and providing general support for the overall portfolio management process.  In Years Two and Three, Analysts build upon their foundations from Year One, and rotate through the corporate bond, derivatives, and interest-rate groups.  In these years, analysts focus on portfolio management responsibilities more specific to each group. 
Over a three-year period, an individual should gain an understanding of financial markets, portfolio management, and trading.  An Analyst will focus on the development of knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: financial markets and asset classes, market conventions and mechanics, portfolio construction and benchmarks, risk management, performance calculation and attribution, and trade valuation and execution.  Analysts will participate in formal and informal training designed to help develop their knowledge and skills.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a strong analytical and quantitative field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Financial Engineering required
  • Strong academic background
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about financial markets and investments
  • High degree of aptitude in quantitative and analytical thinking
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Drive to perform at a high level under pressure and time constraints
  • Achieved or willing to work towards a professional designation (e.g., CFA)
