2020 Harvard Global Heath and Leadership Conference Winner

Rising senior Allison competed in the Case Study Competition during the 2020 Harvard Global Health and Leadership Conference the weekend of May 23rd – May 24th. She was assigned to a group with three other students from across the country. The group was given three hours to formulate a policy on allocating resources to support mental health services for people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Allison and her team were awarded third place in the competition.

The Global Health and Leadership Conference is hosted by Harvard College VISION: Global Health Society, an officially recognized organization at Harvard College. The mission of the Global Health and Leadership Conference is to inspire interest in global health and empower youth to be the next generation of civically minded leaders. This year, due to COVID-19, the conference was moved online and was held virtually via Zoom.

The 2020 Case Study Competition was themed around the COVID-19 pandemic and was hosted online on May 23. Students were assigned their groups a week before the competition and received a packet with background information, specific instructions and judging criteria. The groups had three hours to work together to draft policy briefs. Entries were judged on the basis of their depth, clarity and creativity.

The top entries were invited to present their case studies on Sunday and the top three teams were announced at an awards ceremony on Sunday evening. Allison and her team received third place.

Congratulations Allison on this outstanding accomplishment!
