Founded in 1860, the same year that Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th President of the United States, Provident Behavioral Health is one of the oldest non-profit agencies serving individuals, families, and communities throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Provident's mission is building brighter futures through exceptional behavioral health services, especially for those with the greatest need.
We accomplish our mission through our four key impact areas: 1) Counseling Services, including our School Based Counseling Services 2) Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention 3) Afterschool Programs 4) Advocacy and Public Policy
Our programs touched 80,642 lives last year, focusing on the underserved populations. What does that mean to Provident?
Mental Illness and Suicide: Youth, adults, and seniors at risk of or experiencing mental health issues or risk of suicide.
Access Issues: Individuals with challenges accessing mental health services, for reasons such as geographical location, stigma, transportation, and limited mental health resources.
Financial Barriers: Individuals with financial barriers, including inability to afford mental health services due to financial resources or insufficient insurance.
All programs and advocacy efforts align around meeting an underserved population based on reaching clients who meet at least 2 of the 3 underserved criteria listed above.
