"This past May, I went on a Christian Medical and Dental mission trip to El Salvador. As a journalism student, I was the trip photographer, and each night I posted our incredible ministry to the blog that I created (concamera.wordpress.com). During the trip I learned so much about the medical conditions plaguing third-world countries, the culture of El Salvador and the kindness of Christians all over the world. Some of the people I met waited for hours to see a doctor. When they reached the front of the line, no one was cranky or tired after the wait. Instead, they were excited to hug, kiss and pray for us. I was astounded to learn that 80 percent of babies born in El Salvador are born to unmarried women. The children wanted to be photographed, hugged and given attention – I did a lot of all three.

My senior year at Cor Jesu, I built houses in Reynosa, Mexico, and I’ve wanted to go on another mission trip since then. I had such an incredible week in El Salvador, and I can’t wait to go back!"
