The Cor Jesu Cross Country team will begin practicing on Monday, August 11, and as XC is a MSHSAA sanctioned high school sport, a serious commitment is required. Although cuts are not made based on speed/ability or race performance results, retention on the team will be based on attitude, sportsmanship, effort, and reliability.

• Make sure you’re well hydrated when you come to practice
• Bring a water bottle
• Wear a watch to keep track of your time
• Returning runners bring their summer running logs the first day
• Students must check-in at the Student Commons with the Athletic Department staff 30 minutes before going to tryouts. 

On Monday, August 11, practice will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. For the rest of the first week, practice will be held 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.  Practice time may be adjusted if heat index or weather conditions require

Starting with WEEK 2 and throughout the season, practice will be Monday-Friday from 4:00-5:30 p.m., with the weekly schedule of practice locations communicated by email on Sundays.

Tryouts are August 11-15 at Cor Jesu. Varsity/JV tryout from 3:30-5:30 p.m.; freshman tryout from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Freshman are welcome to try out for JV and will be considered for either JV or freshman teams and only need to attend one tryout slot.

Please bring your shin guards, mouthguard, water bottle, cleats and tennis shoes, and stick (sticks available to borrow if needed) with you to tryouts as well as a shirt with your last name written on your back. You can either pin your name on or use sharpie on an old shirt.

Golf tryouts will be held August 11-15 at Riverside Golf Club (1210 Larkin Williams Rd, Fenton, MO 63026) starting at 4:45 p.m. Weather permitting, all participants will play nine holes each day.

Softball tryouts will be held at Affton Athletic Association from 3:30-5:00 p.m. from August 11-15. Bring water along with softball equipment each day. Practice times and locations, may be adjusted due to weather.

August 11-15 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. @ Dwight Davis Tennis Center
 

• Tryouts will require that you know how to play and score a singles match. We typically have a large turnout for tryouts and cuts are likely, so it's important to get your practice in if you plan to come out for the team.  
   
• Even if you are a beginning player, knowing how to play a basic singles match and be able to serve and return the ball is necessary.  We love our beginning players, and have seen many grow into strong players during their high school years. Even if this is not the level that you/your daughter is currently at, it is certainly possible to get there by early August!  
   
• USTA match play is a great way to prepare for tryouts, as are private lessons and group lessons. In my experience, a few private lessons with a coach and then practicing independently can sometimes have a bigger impact than group clinics. Some of our seniors mentioned that they could possibly be available to teach/play tennis with younger/newer players.   
   
• Our team practices or has a match every weekday starting August 11^th. The JV season goes until the first week of October and the Varsity season can last until late October. Most, if not all, practices will be at Dwight Davis in Forest Park. Match locations vary but our home courts are Dwight Davis. 

Tryouts are Monday through Wednesday, August 11-13. Teams should be decided by the end of practice Wednesday. Practices for teams will continue on Thursday and Friday.

Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors: 3:00-5:00 p.m. @ Cor Jesu Gym

Freshmen: 5:00-6:30 p.m. @ Cor Jesu Gym

Throughout the week, freshmen may be moved to the earlier practice time.
