Tryouts

Any returning student athlete in grades 10-12 interested in trying out for a sport needs to update account on PRIVIT.   Incoming freshmen need to create a new account by July 15. If the student has a PRIVIT account at another school, a different email address must be used to create an account for Cor Jesu. Please make sure that email addresses for both student and parents are entered into PRIVIT. PRIVIT is used to communicate with participants during the season. If you have a new physical for 2022, you can upload it to your PRIVIT account. The 2021 MSHSAA physical on file at Cor Jesu is good for 2 years, unless otherwise noted by the athlete's doctor.

Fall Tryouts begin August 8.  Cross Country, Field Hockey, Softball and Volleyball all need to check in at the Student Commons with the Athletic Department staff 30 minutes before going to practice. Golf and Tennis need to go to the site of the tryout. Tryouts are a minimum of 3 days and are typically completed by Friday of the first week.  After tryouts are complete, practices continue Mondays – Fridays and some weekend days until the season is complete.  Athletes are expected to be at all practices and contests for the season.  Any student athlete that makes a Cor Jesu team is required to attend a rules meeting.  This meeting will be held in the gym for fall student athletes before practice on August 16. A link to the rules review will also be sent to the parents of students participating in fall sports. Athletic  participation fees are collected through your Blackbaud Tuition Management (formerly SMART) account.

The Cor Jesu Cross Country team will begin practicing on Monday, August 8 and as XC is a MSHSAA sanctioned high school sport, a serious commitment is required. Although cuts are not made based on speed/ability or race performance results, retention on the team will be based on attitude, sportsmanship, effort, and reliability.

• Make sure you’re well hydrated when you come to practice
• Bring a water bottle
• Wear a watch to keep track of your time
• Returning runners bring their summer running logs the first day

Practice will be held 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. the first week.
If the heat index requires, practice may be moved to a 7 PM start.

Starting with WEEK 2 and throughout the season, practice will be Monday-Friday from 4 – 5:30 p.m., with the weekly schedule of practice locations will be distributed on Sundays.

Students should check in in the Commons 30 minutes before the tryout on Monday. Tryouts will held on the back field. Participants should bring a water bottle, cleats, shin guards, a mouth guard and regular tennis shoes each day.  Bring your stick and eye wear if you have one. During the tryout, participants should write or pin their last name onto the back of their shirt. 

Varsity and JV will tryout from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. 

Freshmen will tryout from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. 

Freshmen are welcome to join the JV/Varsity tryouts and do not need to also attend the Freshman tryouts.

Tryouts will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the following days:

August 8 - 11: Paradise Valley (1055 Lochmoor Dr, High Ridge, MO 63049)
August 12: Sugar Creek  (5224 Country Club Dr, High Ridge, MO 63049)

Weather permitting, all participants will play a nine hole round each day.  On Monday, check in at the course at least 30 minutes before the start.  Bring water in addition to your clubs each day. 

On Monday, check in in the Commons 30 minutes before the start of the tryout.  Tryouts will be held from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Monday-Friday at Affton Athletic Association (10300 Gravois Rd, Affton, MO 63123). Please bring a water bottle to tryouts.

Tennis tryouts for Varsity and JV will be held at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park (5620 Grand Dr, St. Louis, MO 63112) from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Please bring an insulated water bottle and your racquet each day.   Be prepared to keep score and play singles matches.

Participants should check in in the Commons 30 minutes before tryout begins on Monday. 

Tryouts for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Tryouts for Freshmen will be held from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.

Throughout the week, the freshman may be moved to the earlier practice time.
