Cor Jesu Application Process

Admission to Cor Jesu is competitive and based on scores from standardized tests and elementary school records from 6th, 7th and 8th grades, as well as a personal interview. Generally, we look for students who test in the 80th percentile or higher and who maintain an A/B average. The information below outlines specific instructions and deadlines for applying to Cor Jesu. CJ Class of 2020

   

Students attending Catholic elementary school:

  • Application forms are distributed in September through Catholic elementary schools to any 8th grader who wishes to apply to Cor Jesu or any other Catholic high school.
  • The student must complete this application according to the checklist instructions and return it to her elementary school principal by November 16, 2016.
  • The elementary school principal will submit the students’ application as well as following items to Cor Jesu Academy by November 29, 2016:
    • standardized ability and achievement test scores               
    • final academic grades for 6th/7th/8th grade               
    • attendance records               
    • discipline records               
    • documents pertaining to evaluations for and diagnoses of disabilities or other special needs (academic, social, emotional, behavioral, physical), if any               
    • documentation pertaining to accommodations and modifications recommended/received, if any;                               
    • No letters of recommendation are to be written by principals or teachers

 

  • After careful review of all application materials, Cor Jesu will mail a letter to all qualified candidates with an interview date and time. Please expect this letter no sooner than December 19, 2016. We also ask all applicants to complete the Cor Jesu online application. (Families are encouraged to complete and submit the Cor Jesu application at any time in the application process). Our application must be completed and submitted online no later than December 31, 2016.  
  • Each student will attend a personal interview, as well as complete a writing sample, on the date and time assigned in her letter.
  • The student's school will submit her completed first semester report card by January 13, 2017.
  • Letters of acceptance and non-acceptance will be mailed out on February 3, 2017, and should be received by February 4, 2017. Cor Jesu will also send email notification on February 3, 2017 after school hours.

Students attending public elementary school, other private schools or home-school: 

  • Please contact Director of Admissions Erin Buechter at 314.842.4429, ext. 115 to request an Archdiocesan application.
  • The student must complete this application (Form A) according to the checklist instructions and submit it directly to Cor Jesu Academy by November 16, 2016.
  • Submit the transcript request (Form B) to the elementary school principal, who will be asked to submit the following items to Cor Jesu Academy by November 29, 2016:                                  
    • standardized ability and achievement test scores               
    • final academic grades for 6th/7th/8th grade               
    • attendance records               
    • discipline records               
    • documents pertaining to evaluations for and diagnoses of disabilities or other special needs (academic, social, emotional, behavioral, physical), if any               
    • documentation pertaining to accommodations and modifications recommended/received, if any;                               
    • No letters of recommendation are to be written by principals or teachers
  • Submit the Parish School of Religion request (Form C) to the PSR instructor, who will be asked to submit the following items (If the student does not attend Parish School of Religion, please indicate this on Form C and submit it directly to Cor Jesu Academy by November 29, 2016):

                                - A copy of the student’s permanent report card by November 29, 2016

                                - A copy of the report card for the 1st quarter of 8th grade by January 13, 2017
