Hearts in Motion: Global Education at Cor Jesu Academy

At Cor Jesu Academy, Global Education is an essential part of preparing students for college, careers and life. Hearts in Motion is Cor Jesu's Global Education program, designed to expand learning through educational travel, service-learning, cultural immersion and experiential-learning opportunities.
Students are given the opportunity to engage in meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning to the world around them. Rooted in Cor Jesu's mission to educate the whole young woman, Hearts in Motion helps students build confidence, compassion and leadership while developing a global perspective. 
Led by alumna and educator, Ms. Jennifer Ahrens '87, the program builds on Cor Jesu's experiential learning with opportunities including: 
  • Educational travel programs
  • Study abroad and language immersion experiences
  • Service-learning trips in the U.S. and abroad
  • Cultural exchange and global leadership development
  • Local cultural immersion experiences in St. Louis

Student Travel Opportunities

Costa Rica

Consider this trip to Costa Rica where you will stay and work alongside locals on service projects, spending your downtime exploring this gloriously tropical, culturally rich equatorial nation.

France

Current juniors studying French have the opportunity to travel to Rambouillet, France, in late May or early June for a two-week exchange program at Institution Sainte Thérèse. Students stay with host families, strengthen their language skills through immersive French classes and experience French culture through activities and excursions, including a visit to Paris.

The exchange continues in fall 2027, when participating French students travel to St. Louis and stay with their Cor Jesu host families. This program is offered in partnership with St. Louis University High School.

This immersion opportunity in Spain will tour Madrid and Toledo, and then homestay in Seville on a cultural and language immersion adventure—taking your Spanish to the next level!

ireland

The destinations on this journey correlate to the coursework of Irish Literature, an English Department Elective. 

Because this course is usually comprised of 50-75 students annually, spots on this trip are limited to those who are taking/have taken the class.

France Soccer Program

Freshman, JV and varsity soccer players from the spring 2026 season are eligible to travel to Chartres, France, in mid-June 2027 for a soccer and cultural exchange program. Students will visit partner school Institution De Notre Dame and compete against local French club teams while experiencing French culture through activities and excursions, including a visit to Paris.

The exchange continues in fall 2027, when participating French students travel to St. Louis and stay with their Cor Jesu host families. This program is offered in partnership with St. Louis University High School.

germany, denmark & sweden

Consider this adventure to Germany, Denmark and Sweden to dive deep into Germanic and Viking culture.  The Rhine & Timber Road; Hamburg & a U-boat tour; Copenhagen & a Viking ship sailing; and Stockholm & a Mamma Mia dinner theater are some of the highlights of this odyssey!

Taiwan

All students are eligible to travel to Taiwan in late May or early June for a 12-day cultural exchange program. Students visit partner schools and major cities throughout Taiwan, connect with Taiwanese students and experience the country's culture through immersive activities and excursions.

The exchange continues in fall 2027, when participating Taiwanese students travel to St. Louis and stay with their Cor Jesu host families. This program is offered in partnership with St. Louis University High School.
