The Social Studies Department envisions that our graduates will be more likely to serve, to advocate for themselves, and to collaborate with others because they will have had their curiosity enhanced through exposure to significant social issues, current events, and a variety of societies, cultures, and experiences. Our graduates will display increased levels of empathy and refined spiritual and moral character after we have introduced them to standards of justice, experiences of the marginalized, different belief systems, and debatable issues—and because we helped them to refine their own searches for truth.
