Cor Jesu Academy, a Catholic, college-preparatory high school founded by the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1956, offers an academically challenging program, committed to the total education of young women. With a current enrollment of 550 students, Cor Jesu strives to empower young women intellectually, spiritually and morally to serve as responsible members of the global community. Position Description:

Cor Jesu is currently seeking applicants for the position of College Counselor, beginning with the 2022-23 academic year.

The College Counselor will be responsible for working closely with students and their families to educate and successfully guide them through the college search and application process. Offering information, resources and support for students/families in both group and one-on-one settings, Cor Jesu college counselors work collaboratively in seeking to assist each student in finding her “best fit” college choice. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Counseling 130-140 juniors and seniors each academic year
  • Scheduling and facilitating one-on-one visits with seniors (fall semester) and juniors and their parents (spring semester)
  • Writing college letters of recommendation for admissions, scholarships & special programs on behalf of students
  • Submitting all counselor supplemental paperwork required for student admission to colleges in a timely manner
  • Processing transcript requests in a timely manner and submitting electronically through Naviance.
  • Identifying students for special scholarship or other award opportunities
  • Organizing and administering standardized tests, and assisting students, parents and faculty in interpretation of test results
  • Establishing rapport and cultivating ongoing relationships with representatives from colleges and universities and, where appropriate, facilitating personal contacts between students and representatives
  • Managing and cultivating personal relationships with top tier university contacts
  • Visiting colleges and universities locally, regionally and nationally in order to stay informed of current university programs and admission requirements
  • Offering events and workshops to students/families to enhance knowledge of the college process and to promote successful outcomes
  • Actively promoting Cor Jesu and its students to colleges and universities while establishing and cultivating strong professional connections
  • Offering opportunities and events for underclasswomen and their families to begin to learn about the college process prior to their junior year
  • Guiding juniors through academic course selections for their senior year and evaluating each transcript to ensure credits are met for graduation
  • Maintaining membership and participation in local, state and national college counselor organizations. (MOACAC/NACAC)
  • Working collaboratively within the department to keep information for the Cor Jesu school profile accurate and updated annually
  • Working closely with School Wellness Counselors and supporting them as needed.
  • Participating Cor Jesu’s Learning Team to support students academically


The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a master’s degree in school counseling, education or a related field. 
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience and expertise in the field of college counseling within a strong private Catholic school culture, or direct experience in college admissions.

  • Have a strong sense of empathy, patience, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Be energized by working with high school-aged youth and their families.

  • Be highly collaborative with both colleagues and leadership, yet self-driven, creative and comfortable working autonomously. 
  • Be organized and deadline-oriented, yet flexible and team-oriented.
  • Be willing and available to work evening or weekend hours as necessary.
  • Have experience and proficiency with Naviance.

Cor Jesu is looking for Lacrosse Assistant Coaches for the upcoming spring season.  The season begins February 28.

Department: Athletic Department

Qualification:  Certified Teacher or college degree and completion of MSHSAA First Aid and Coaching Course.  Must be a responsible, organized, creative and hard-working individual. We have two very experienced head coaches that are happy to train someone with little lacrosse experience provided they have the willingness to learn and enjoy a team environment. 


Department Relationship:  Reports to the Varsity Head Coach & Athletic Director.  Oversees his/her team assistant coaches and maintains a close working relationship with all coaches within the program that they coach.


Summary:  The coach is expected to attend every practice and game, be prepared and responsible, behaving in a manner that is representative of Cor Jesu Academy. 


Job Expectations:           

  • Organizes, attends and facilitates every practice and game. 
  • Follows the guidelines and philosophy set by the Athletic Department.
  • Understands and follows the rules set by MSHSAA and NFHS.
  • Attends meetings including those scheduled by the Athletic Director, by the Principal and the MSHSAA rules meeting.
  • Stays up to date on changes in rules and skill development for lacrosse.
  • Regularly checks school email and Athletic Department mailbox. 
  • Fulfills the responsibilities assigned by the head of the field hockey program.
  • Promotes the program-wide expectations of the head varsity coach.
  • Assists the Head Varsity Coach in conducting a rules meeting for the lacrosse program before the first competition.
  • Supervises proper care and inventory of equipment used by his/her team.
  • Provides the Head Varsity Coach with information needed for end of the year inventory.  Assists in storing equipment at the end of the season.
