The Math teacher will teach a combination of classes including Calculus, Statistics, Trigonometry or other based on the interest and needs of the school. The teacher is responsible for maximizing the academic progress of the students they teach and working with colleagues to participate fully in the development of the department. The teacher promotes a positive, purposeful and professional working atmosphere that encourages cooperation and challenge, while valuing the contribution that individuals make to the success of the Mathematics Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly-presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught
• Monitor each student’s academic performance and provide feedback for improvements

• Set homework which is appropriate to the students’ ability and their wider workload
• Assess students’ work accurately and regularly, giving thoughtful and meaningful feedback

• Improve, update and maintain teaching materials and resources as needed
• Communicate with parents appropriately and in a way that is consistent with school policy

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree. Experience preferred.
ACC, ACP and AP required.

The Instrumental Music Teacher will lead and develop the instrumental music program. The successful candidate will provide music education to students, promoting the spiritual, intellectual and artistic growth of young musicians through performance, technique and music theory.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruction and Performance
  •  Teach instrumental music to students in grades [9-12], including but not limited to chamber orchestra, class piano and handbell ensemble class.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to different skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
  • Lead rehearsals, ensuring the development of technical skills and musicality in students.
  • Direct instrumental ensembles for school concerts.
• Curriculum and Program Development
  • Develop a comprehensive instrumental music curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational goals, including fostering the values of Catholic education.
  • Encourage students' personal musical growth and creativity through diverse repertoire, including sacred music, classical works and contemporary genres.
• Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with other faculty members, especially those in the music department, to ensure a well-rounded arts education.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress, performances and upcoming events.
  • Attend faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences and other school-related events as necessary.
• Spiritual Integration
  • Incorporate Catholic teachings, prayers, and values into the music program, fostering spiritual growth in students through music.
  • Lead or participate in music for school Masses and liturgies, with the intention of including student ensembles when possible.
• Administrative Duties
  • Organize and manage performance schedules, including concerts, festivals and other school-related events.
  • Maintain accurate records for student attendance, grading and progress.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the school’s musical budget, instruments, equipment and library.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Instrumental Music or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Certification in music education is preferred.

• Experience teaching instrumental music in a high school setting is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency in one or more instruments (e.g., woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, keyboard).

• Experience conducting ensembles (band, orchestra, or other instrumental groups) is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of music theory, instrumental techniques and ensemble performance.

• Ability to inspire and engage students of varying skill levels.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• A commitment to fostering a positive, faith-filled learning environment.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support the overall mission of the school.

• Ability to transport musical instruments and materials as necessary for rehearsals and performances.

• Ability to stand for extended periods during rehearsals and performances.
