The Math teacher will teach a combination of classes including Calculus, Statistics, Trigonometry or other based on the interest and needs of the school. The teacher is responsible for maximizing the academic progress of the students they teach and working with colleagues to participate fully in the development of the department. The teacher promotes a positive, purposeful and professional working atmosphere that encourages cooperation and challenge, while valuing the contribution that individuals make to the success of the Mathematics Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly-presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught
- Monitor each student’s academic performance and provide feedback for improvements
- Develop positive learning environments for students
- Supervise and motivate students to achieve academic goals
- Collaborate with department to develop or revise curriculum plan
- Attend professional development
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Promote a positive, purposeful and professional school l culture
- Encourage consultation, review and improvement
- Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning
- Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential
- Promote high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to studying and build productive relationships with students
- Set homework which is appropriate to the students’ ability and their wider workload
- Assess students’ work accurately and regularly, giving thoughtful and meaningful feedback
- Promote high standards of organization
- Be respectful of the needs of colleagues regarding co-operation, collegiality, deadlines and team cohesion
- Improve, update and maintain teaching materials and resources as needed
- Communicate with parents appropriately and in a way that is consistent with school policy
- Act in a way that is consistent with the Mission of Cor Jesu Academy in your classroom and in the larger community
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree. Experience preferred.
ACC, ACP and AP required.
