We seek candidates who are proficient in their disciplines and committed to guiding and teaching students.
We are hiring a full-time Science teacher. Candidates should able to teach all levels, including first-year students, and multiple subjects, including Chemistry, Biology or Physics. The teacher should be engaging and committed to active learning, ready to collaborate with colleagues and embrace connections across the school community, especially extra-curriculars specific to the department.

Purpose of Job
The Science teacher is responsible for maximizing the academic progress of the students they teach and working with colleagues to participate fully in the development of the department. The teacher promotes a positive, purposeful and professional working atmosphere that encourages cooperation and challenge, while valuing the contribution that individuals make to the success of the Science Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught
- Monitor each student’s academic performance and provide feedback for improvements
- Develop positive learning environments for students
- Supervise and motivate students to achieve academic goals
- Collaborate with the department to develop or revise curriculum plan
- Attend professional development
- Maintain student progress
- Promote a school culture which is positive, purposeful and professional
- Encourage consultation, review and improvement
- Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning
- Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential
- Promote high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to studying and build productive relationships with students
- Set homework which is appropriate to the student’s ability and their wider workload
- Assess student’s work accurately and regularly, giving thoughtful and meaningful feedback
- Promote high standards of organization
- Be respectful of the needs of colleagues regarding co-operation, collegiality, deadlines and team cohesion
- Improve, update and maintain materials and resources as needed
Education and Experience:
Master’s degree preferred. Experience preferred.
