The Mosaic of Cor Jesu

The Mosaic of Cor Jesu: A Reflection by Sr. Susan Marie Krupp, ASCJ '76

There is something quietly beautiful about a mosaic. At first glance, it is a collection of many different pieces, each with its own color, shape and story. But when you step back, those pieces come together to reveal something whole, intentional and far more meaningful than any one part alone.

That image has been on my heart as I reflect on Cor Jesu.

Walk through our halls and you will see mosaics that have become part of our physical space. But more importantly, you will see them lived out each day in our students. No two journeys here look exactly the same, yet each one is essential. Each young woman brings her own gifts, her own voice and her own experiences, and together they form the vibrant, faith-filled community that is Cor Jesu.

The same is true of the many people and experiences that shape life at Cor Jesu. Our students discover their strengths in the classroom, deepen their faith, compete alongside their teammates, serve others, build friendships and find a place where they belong. Alumnae carry what they learned here into their families, careers and communities. Faculty and staff invest in our students each day. Parents, grandparents and friends support our mission and help make the Cor Jesu experience possible.

Individually, each of these is a meaningful part of the Cor Jesu story. Together, they reveal the full picture of a Cor Jesu education, one that forms the mind, nurtures the spirit and prepares young women to lead lives of purpose and compassion.

This is who we have always been.

And yet, like any living mosaic, we continue to grow, evolve and be shaped by the people who are part of it. Our students, alumnae, families, friends and benefactors each add something unique, strengthening the whole in ways both seen and unseen.

As you think about your own connection to Cor Jesu, I hope you recognize the piece of Cor Jesu that is yours. Whether you walked these halls years ago, have a daughter here today, support our students from afar or simply believe in our mission, you are part of this community and its story.

Every piece matters. And together, we continue sharing the love of the Heart of Christ with one another and with the world.

Carolyn Sinak Bergman ’19 shares how her family’s devotion to Blessed Clelia Merloni began during her father’s recovery from Guillain-Barré Syndrome and deepened when they discovered a remarkable connection to the miracle attributed to Blessed Clelia’s intercession. Years later, a visit to Blessed Clelia’s resting place in Rome reminded Carolyn of her call to follow Clelia’s example by sharing the love of Christ with others each day.
