The Cor Jesu Academy Varsity Lacrosse team brought home the 2025 Missouri State Lacrosse Association Championship in thrilling fashion, defeating Eureka High School 13-10 on May 24. This victory highlights the grit, heart and teamwork that define our student-athletes.

Entering the playoffs as the No. 5 seed, the Chargers stunned the competition by knocking out the No. 4, No. 1 and No. 3 seeds in consecutive rounds. With a final season record of 16-5, the team proved that rankings don’t define champions; resilience does.

In the championship game, Cor Jesu rallied from an early three-goal deficit and led 10-8 heading into the final quarter. Goalkeeper Maggie Bruno '26 stepped up in a major way, playing all 48 minutes and making critical saves that secured the Chargers’ comeback win. Throughout the season, Bruno had shared time with standout freshman goalie Charlie Cates '28, showcasing the program’s promising depth and bright future.

Madi Beuligmann '25, a multi-sport athlete who also competes in field hockey and basketball, emphasized what makes Cor Jesu special:

“One of our core values at Cor Jesu is Caring Community, and that has really shown through our sports teams. We become best friends. We’re always there for each other, and that helps us succeed.”

The 2025 lacrosse season will be remembered not just for the championship, but for the unity, perseverance and leadership on and off the field. Cor Jesu Athletics continues to empower young women to compete with character, lead with heart and win with integrity.
