Hearts in Motion: Global Education at Cor Jesu

Cor Jesu Academy is expanding how students experience the world. Through Hearts in Motion, the school’s global education program, students are invited to learn beyond the classroom and engage more deeply with communities, cultures and real-world challenges both locally and internationally.

Designed as a four-year framework, Hearts in Motion offers students meaningful opportunities to explore different cultures, connect with diverse communities and grow in understanding. The program reflects Cor Jesu’s commitment to forming young women who are confident, curious and compassionate, with a global mindset grounded in faith.

At its core, Hearts in Motion is about more than travel. It is about experiential learning that helps students make sense of the world and their place in it. Whether participating in local service initiatives or traveling abroad, students are encouraged to engage thoughtfully, ask questions and build relationships that broaden their perspectives.

A recent example of this vision in action took place in Alaska, where Cor Jesu students partnered with St. Francis House of Hospitality. Through service and immersion, students worked alongside community members while gaining a deeper understanding of the social and economic realities facing the region. Experiences like this are designed to move learning beyond theory and into lived experience.

The program also includes opportunities to engage in global conversations through events such as international conferences and student summits. These experiences allow students to collaborate with peers from around the world, strengthening their ability to think critically and communicate across cultures.

Hearts in Motion is rooted in Cor Jesu’s mission to educate the whole person. By combining academic exploration with service, cultural immersion and reflection, the program helps students grow not only in knowledge but in empathy and purpose.

As alumna Jennifer Ahrens ’87, one of the leaders behind the program, shares, the goal is to help young women “lead with courage, compassion and a global perspective.” That vision continues to shape the future of global education at Cor Jesu.

Through Hearts in Motion, students are not just learning about the world. They are stepping into it with confidence, faith and a commitment to making a meaningful impact.
